The surname Inscho is derived from the place name Insch, a village ten miles northeast of Inverurie in the county of Grampian in Scotland. The surname signifies "one from Insch." The place name Insch is derived from the Old English "inch" meaning, "island." Variants of the surname Inscho include Insco, Inscore, Inshaw, Inch, Incheen, Inger, and Ingerthrope

At this time, the earliest member of the family which I can identify is Joseph L. Inscho Sr. who came to the United States from Ireland with his three sons no later than 1760. I have heard that they may have taken a ship from Ireland, but been from Wales originally, but I am unable to confirm this. I am still uncertain if he brought a wife with him or if the children which he had after he arrived were born to a different mother than the three sons that came with him from Ireland.

My lineage is noted by names in bold, but I am also including other lineages.

There are also many Inschos which are not currently incorporated into this family tree who may belong on one branch of it. I am hoping to add them as time and evidence permits. A few of these trees can be found below:
Irvin Ira Inscho (b.May 9, 1857 in Buffalo County, WI)
Various discussions on the Insko message board
Mormon Church Records - various Inscho branches.
There are also some here but much of the information contradicts census data and other public records.
